YouTube announced a new design on the 25th. Aiming for a more modern and immersive viewing experience, we are also improving the way we watch videos.

The basic functions are the same, but a new "ambient mode" is installed. Utilizing dynamic color sampling, the background color of the screen changes subtly to match the content of the video. This makes the video viewing experience more immersive. This feature is available in dark mode on the web and mobile.

We've also made the Dark Mode background even darker so that colors look more vibrant on screen. Release on the web, mobile, and smart TVs.

The video playback page has also been improved. The YouTube link in the video description has been changed to a button, and frequently used operations such as rating, sharing, and saving have been made as unobtrusive as possible. The subscribe button has also been improved, with a new shape and stronger contrast, while changing from red to black. We've redesigned both the watch page and channel page to make them easier to find and access.

Android and iOS support "pinch to zoom". You can easily zoom in and out on your smartphone, and even if you lift your finger, the video will remain magnified and you can continue to enjoy the video.

It also supports "fine adjustment of playback position". Even on desktop or mobile, dragging (swiping) the seek bar up will display thumbnails in a row in the video player, so you can move to the exact position you want to play.
